Morning Arrival:

As students step into our space, they are greeted with warm smiles, embracing the feeling of being part of a second home! Our classrooms are thoughtfully crafted to spark curiosity and inspire independence. Right from the start of the day, kids place their belongings in their special spots, building a foundation of responsibility and organization. For the first 30 minutes, our future trailblazers dive into exciting hands-on learning activities, all beautifully arranged at
various stations throughout the vibrant learning environment!

Morning Community Meeting

Once our future leaders have had the opportunity to socialize and connect with their peers during the interactive morning arrival period, each teacher convenes a community meeting or circle time. This gathering is essential for fostering social skills, enhancing listening abilities, and engaging in meaningful group discussions. This is a relaxed gathering where dialog is encouraged as a community and learners are engaged in:

  • Praying for the day ahead

  • Reading & discussing a daily devotional to help reinforce good choices and kind interactions with others

  • Sharing any exciting or good news with their peers

  • Learning about the planned activities and goals for the day

Learning Stations

It’s thrilling to think about the incredible growth happening during these formative years for our future leaders! During this time of their day, they’ll dive into engaging learning stations carefully designed to enhance their language skills, build longer sentences, express their emotions, recognize colors and numbers, and develop fine motor skills like cutting with scissors. We also focus on gross motor skills, self-care abilities, matching, and sequencing! At the beginning of the year, all the stations will be led by teachers, but as the year progress, we aim for student-led stations as we nuture the independent learners and self-starters that we aspire to cultivate at IGLC. During our learning station time, every future leader gets the chance to enjoy 1-on-1 time with their teacher, receiving personalized guidance and support while the other future leaders are being guided by an assistant. And the best part? When they hear their buzzer go off, it’s their cue to shake off the wiggles and joyfully hop or dance to their next adventure in play and exploration!

Outdoor Play

Outdoor time is essential to the development of preschoolers’ social development, cognitive development, creativity, emotional development, sensory stimulation, physical health, imagination, independence and confidence, and so much more. Outdoor play time is a combination of free play and sometimes organized/ teacher led play.

Lunch

It's widely recognized that students thrive on good nutrition, which is vital for their learning and performance in school. A well-balanced diet is crucial for their physical and mental growth. The essential nutrients packed into a healthy school lunch support their growth and development effectively. Plus, it helps fend off obesity and various chronic health issues. but that’s not all! A healthy school lunch is a game-changer for our future leaders’ mental well-being too. Nutritious foods boost concentration and focus, both of which are key for academic victories. These wholesome meals also contribute to higher energy levels and brighten moods significantly. When our future leaders fuel their bodies with good food, they feel energized and ready to learn at IGLC!‍

Practical Life Skills

Practical life activities are an awesome way to show children how important it is to contribute to their family, classroom, and community! From an early age, kids are excited and ready to pitch in with household chores and ‘family work.’ During this special part of our day, these future leaders take on their weekly tasks, which can include everything from pre-washing our wheat-straw dinnerware, loading the dishwasher, and sweeping the floors, to mopping, wiping down
tables, watering plants, and organizing shelves. The pride that kids feel when they complete these tasks inspires them to care more about their surroundings and contributes to a vibrant community spirit!

Brain Recharge

Naps are vital for preschoolers! They play a huge role in boosting memory consolidation and supporting learning, while also promoting overall development. Those little rest periods give kids the chance to recharge, leading to sharper cognitive skills, better emotional balance, and improved physical health. When naps follow new learning experiences, they’re especially beneficial, helping children to process and hold on to all the wonderful things they've discovered throughout the day!

Group Learning

During this exciting time, our enthusiastic teachers dive into reviewing and reinforcing concepts that may have posed challenges for some of our future leaders! It’s also a perfect opportunity to introduce exciting new ideas! Our group learning sessions are vibrant and engaging, covering everything from numerical skills and phonics to social-emotional growth. We might even read a captivating book together and spark students’ imaginations with open-ended questions that
boost their comprehension and language fluency! And let’s not forget the thrill of incorporating our learning center’s Smartboard to make these experiences even more interactive and fun!

Snack

As we continue our healthy and wholesome eating habits that we strive for with lunch, our future leaders will enjoy a snack comprised of a mixture of fresh fruits, healthy grains, half sandwiches, cheeses, fresh veggies, etc. to expand their palates and fuel their bodies.

Outdoor Science & Art Exploration

At IGLC, we are absolutely thrilled to embrace building creativity alongside outdoor exploration and a deep appreciation for nature! Every day is an adventure where our future leaders dive into exciting art and science experiences right in the great outdoors. They’ll have the chance to marvel at the world’s wonders and let their imaginations soar! Our dynamic approach guides them through nature-based art and science activities, allowing them to learn organically about our beautiful planet while creating amazing art. Together, we’re nurturing a new generation of creative explorers who will cherish the beauty of the earth!
