Thea Dennard

Founder of IGLC & The Nest

Thea Dennard, a proud Georgian, has dedicated over 16 years to working with children and their families in various capacities, including coaching, serving as a preschool teacher, and founding and directing the Team 3 After School Program since 2016. Throughout her journey, Thea has drawn inspiration from numerous educators and leaders in the fields of education and youth development. Notable influences include Trecisa Brown, a long-time private homeschool educator known for her remarkable ability to achieve educational breakthroughs with students many had given up on; Dr. Bettina Love, whose advocacy and passion for equitable educational opportunities for Black and Brown children resonate deeply; and her mother, Latasha Dix, along with her youth track coaches, whose unwavering belief in her potential instilled in her the conviction that she could achieve anything.

Thea earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Clemson University, a BS in Nursing from the University of South Alabama, and a Child Development Associate credential. Shortly after graduating from Clemson in 2007, she pursued a degree in education at Liberty University. However, after a year, Thea felt called to create impactful change in children's lives beyond the traditional educational system. Recognizing her divine purpose as a change agent, she shifted her focus to private early childhood education.

Firmly believing that many individuals, especially children, do not realize their full potential due to a lack of confidence and vision, Thea is committed to being a catalyst for change. Her mission is to develop programs that nurture resilient, responsible, bold yet respectful, kind, and God-honoring individuals. As a mother of three boys, her passion for advocating for children has intensified.

Thea has been married to her co-founder, Ivory “Coach D” Dennard, since 2009, and they are the proud parents of three young kings: Israel, Elijah, and Samson. In her leisure time, Thea enjoys family outings, exploring the outdoors, and traveling.
