First Grade

Reading

Your child will demonstrate recognizing sight words for upcoming grade level; increase phonic skills; build fluency and reading comprehension and increase their confidence in reading.

 

Math

Your child will demonstrate a better understanding of addition, subtraction, and strategies to solve math problems; learn an understanding of whole numbers, place value and grouping tens and ones.

Class Structure

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm to 6pm your child will receive:

  • Independent reading practice, and direct instruction in phonics skills. 

  • Training needed to master the phonics skills and sight words that will lead to success in 1st grade.

  • Exploring area to identifying complex patterns.

  • Students will be challenged to model problems visually, represent numbers as tens and ones, plus a lot more! 

 

Daily Schedule

4:00pm-4:30pm                               Teacher-led classroom instruction

4:30pm-5:00pm                               Independent Learning/Quiet activities

5:00pm-5:10pm                               Snack

5:10pm-5:40pm                               Teacher Student games

5:40pm-6:00pm                               Teacher Student hands on activities.
